A round the world, human-powered expedition is in danger of
grinding to a halt in Australia after 20,000 miles, just because they
haven’t got any, er, bicycles…
How sad is that? Strangely manufacturers aren’t queuing up to
donate the six mountain bikes which Jason Lewis is looking for. He
seems to reckon they’re running scared of the conditions: ‘The
Australian outback would represent an extreme testing ground for
mountain bikes,’ he’s reported as saying in this
story. Before adding that a TV documentary is being made of the
expedition.
So far Jason’s crossed the Channel, and the Atlantic and Pacific
Oceans in the 26-foot pedal boat, Moksha, and roller-bladed across
the US. It’s taken him six years to complete the first 20,000 miles
of the journey with only another 15,000 miles to go.
You can read more about Expedition 360 here.
You can also read how Jason was looking for a fit, mountain biking
British schoolgirl ‘aged 15-16’ to join the team for the Australian
leg of the trip. Hmmmm….
