UK long-haul team Extreme Endurance has new sponsors and a concomitant change of name for 2010, with members plying their epic trade under the banner of Team Syncros Endurance. Syncros components share a UK distributor with Santa Cruz bikes, and the deal includes the team riding carbon fibre Blur XC frames.
Team owner and racer Rob Lee started the team in 2004 and is unsurprisingly pleased with the new deal:
“It feels good to have the backing of these two companies that really get what we do. Santa Cruz were involved when I started the team and to have them back in the mix is awesome. Syncros make some amazing high-end products that any racer would be envious of. That backing, mixed with our team, that has gone from strength-to-strength with each passing season and currently boasts some of the top soloists in the country, can only mean fireworks when the major races start”
Jungle Products’ Dickon Hepworth was instrumental in the deal and had this to say:
“When we were looking for a high profile endurance team to promote the Syncros range, it made perfect sense for us to tie up with Rob and his team. They have all the bases covered when it comes to 12hr, 24hr, Solo and Endurance racing – plus their media coverage is unrivalled. We are really excited about the tie-in with Syncros and can’t wait for the 2010 season to start. Plus of course the fact they will be riding Syncros equipped Santa Cruz Blur XC carbon bikes – they will be tough to beat!”
As well as Rob, the team line-up also includes Rich Rothwell (England Coast-to-Coast record holder, Masters 24 Hour Solo World Champion), Josh Ibbett (2009 Relentless 24 Solo winner), Dave Buchanan (Welsh Coast-to-Coast record holder), Scott Cornish and Clive Forth.
