Sheffield-based Edge Bikes, flush from the success of their Blade BSX frame, are working hard on the XC, downhill and freeride versions. Adrian at Edge tells us that they’ve finished development of the XC frame, and just have to give the pre-production bike a good pounding before production commences – he’s anticipating first deliveries by the end of February.
The frame’s of similar design to the Blade, using one of those there new-fangled short-link multi-pivot designs. The XC variant has 4.5in of travel and a claimed weight (with shock) of 6.5lb. It’ll be available as a frame and shock only, or with a choice of two build kits or a full custom option.
Pricing hasn’t been finalised, but Adrian says the frame and shock will be “under £1200”. There’s a waiting list, and several people have already paid deposits. We should have a test bike in the new year, but in the meantime you can get more information from Edge Bikes on 0870 744 9362 or visit their website.
