BIKEmagic this morning launches its Dump-the-Pump campaign. We’re
fed up of beer – the drink of cyclists worldwide – being taxed at over the odds.
BIKEmagic editor Brant Richards said “The government take lots of money from
us drinkers though the beer taxes and yet you see none spent on making pubs better
places. They’re still as uncomfortable as they ever have been.”
BIKEmagic is pushing for their members to boycott pubs this Saturday, by filling
up on as much beer as possible on Friday.
“If we all do our best to avoid pubs on Saturday, the pub owners and the government
will sit up and take notice and we can have a reduction in beer prices, down to
what they used to be, like”, said Richards.
Several groups against beer-price-cutting have noted that it is the BIKEmagic editors
30th birthday on Friday. “It’s irrelevant”, he commented, before hanging
up the phone.
