Fed up because there are no trails to ride in your
area? BIKEmagic member Darren Groom and his mates at Cherwell Jump and Dual (CJD – gettit?), from Oxfordshire decided that if the trails
weren’t as they wanted, they’d get it sorted himself.
“We applied for a lottery grant to allow us to build a dedicated dual/quad slalom
track, and things are going really well” Darren told us. “We now have a
site, the council are 100% behind us and we have just put out our first newsletter
to try and get some revenue to cover a couple of months rent on the land so work
can begin!”.
It’s not just Darren and his mates that are going to benefit from the new jumps and
lumps either, “Anyone in the area who is interested can contact me on my email
address, and I will send them an application
form for 6months membership which will start from the opening day at the track, which
is available for the give away price of £15.00″
As well as the track that the council have assisted them with, they have been given
the free run of Drayton school BMX track, which is now being lovingly crafted in
a full on jump spot and trials area, so, they have something for most abilities of
rider.
If you’re in the Oxfordshire area, or you want to find more out about getting help
building trails drop Darren a email.
