It’s the time of year when midlayers become damn handy things to have around. If it’s cold and wet they’re invaluable under a waterproof shell, and if it’s just cold they’re just the job over a base layer. A good midlayer is a versatile beast…

But what makes a good midlayer? Well, we have our ideas about that and we reckon you probably do too. Now’s your chance to make them reality. BIKEmagic has teamed up with top UK clothing company Freestyle to come up with the ideal midlayer. And it’s the members who we’re looking to for suggestions. So if there’s something particular you want to see in a midlayer (or something you want not to see), dive in to the forum and get your ideas in. Amongst other things, we need to know about zips, lengths, cut, materials, cuffs, pockets… It’s a clean sheet project.

We’ll be letting the forum run for three weeks, then collate all the suggestions and send them to Freestyle. They’ll come up with a design for your perusal. And a lucky BM member could win the resulting garment.
