Cumbria Bike Fest goes M.A.D

Prepare to be amazed at the Bike Fest

Team M.A.D will be taking their world class stunt show to the Cumbria Bike Fest between 7-13 May 2007. They’ll be the centre piece at the festival with their spectacular displays including a whole host of amazing riding tricks and skills, including death defying leaps, jumps, hops and balancing skills.

Stunt rider Jez Avery will also be bringing his world class stunt show to Bike Fest. Jez first honed his skills on a BMX bike and entered his first competition at the age of 11. His mountain bike career has included breaking the mountain bike long jump record, as well as winning the British Open Trials Championship and the UK National Dual Slalom Championship.

The Festival has been set up by Cumbria Tourism and is being staged by Detail Events. Organiser Jim Mee, says: “I’m delighted that these exciting stunt riders have agreed to come to the first Cumbria Bike Fest. They thrill audiences wherever they go, so visitors to the festival are in for a real treat.”

There will be bike trials and stunt demos on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Lowther. A “bomb-hole” will be constructed for some adrenalin packed jump demonstrations. A skills area and stunt workshops will also mean that everyone will get the chance to have a go themselves!

At Lowther there will also be a wide range of other events, including the first Merida Mountain Bike Marathons staged in England. Full details of all the events taking place during the festival can be found on a new website www.cumbriabikefest.co.uk.

Camping will be available on the Lowther site, so it will be possible to stay for the whole weekend. To book the camping or other accommodation in Cumbria, log on to the Bike Fest website.

Cumbria Bike Fest fringe events start on the 7th of May and will be held at locations across the county, from Ulverston to Carlisle and from Workington to Penrith. They include cycle trails, have a go sessions, 2 for 1 offers and guided rides.
