There’s less than three weeks to go now until this year’s CLIC24 (10/11 May), the country’s only all-for-charity 24 hour event. How time has flown by and how soon we’ll be flying around the classic CLIC24 course, with dust on the bike, the sun on our backs and the warm wind on our faces – here’s hoping…
Back by popular demand is the annual “win an ensuite room” competition. Whoever’s raised the highest amount in sponsorship by 12pm on 7 May will get the use of an ensuite room in the Charterhouse Centre event HQ for the weekend. There’s a room up for grabs for a solo rider (although they’re clearly doing something wrong if they make much use of it) and the team with the most pledges.
Confirmed event support is coming from Sustrans, Midas, Lumicycle, Bike City, Zero-G, Rumours and Bikemagic, all of whom you’ll see at the event. StudioSix Photography will be out and about on the course and around the main event site through the weekend in an attempt to get a great photo of you that you’ll receive as a complimentary gift. If your team would like a professional image taken by them then just pop along to the main marquee and they’ll sort you out.
New for 2008 is some pre-event Friday evening entertainment. Top Bristol singer-songwriter Mark Venus will be playing live in the main arena marquee on the Friday evening, and there’ll be pasta aplenty and a bar to get your weekend off to the perfect start. You can arrive at the site from 5pm this year, slightly earlier than in previous years, to give you time to set up before the party begins. Bring family, friends and your support crew if you have one. Don’t miss this great addition to the CLIC24 weekend.
The deadline for entries is 3 May so don’t delay. If you haven’t already committed to the best weekend of the year then you need to get your form in quickly. Head to www.clic24.org.uk to download yours now.

Somehow last year’s extremely damp experience failed to put me off, and I’ve entered the solo category again. 2008’s goal is not to fall asleep for quite so many hours. And if you’re looking for an outlet for your charitable donations, I’d like to volunteer 🙂 – head to http://www.justgiving.com/mikedavis24 where teams of highly-trained server-side scripts are waiting to take your money…
