National Road Team Manager John Herety has just called in from the finish of
the final stage of the Circuit Des Mines, with the news that Chris Newton
has successfully held on to his lead and won the race.

John paid tribute to
the GB team (Newton, Bradley Wiggins, Bryan Steel, Phil West, Paul Manning
and Steve Cummings) who, during a tense last stage, worked extremely hard to
control the race and protect Chris’s lead. Bradley Wiggins is thought to
have finished in the top five on the stage. Final stage results and
positions tomorrow.
