Trailblazers are organising the Cannock Chase Cycling Festival on the weekend of 27/28 July. The weekend is aimed at cyclists and mountain bikers of all abilities and is being sponsored by outdoor uber retailer Field & Trek.
The are 4 individual events: –
The HighFive Hill Climb: A 2.4km off-road course using some of the undulating forest tracks.
A 5-hour Trailquest: Up to 30 checkpoints across the varied terrain of Cannock Chase. Competitors have 5 hours to visit as many of these controls as they can, in any order, making route choice and navigational skills a priority. Riders have a map of the area with all checkpoints marked as they start.
A Team Relay: An event where navigation, teamwork and time are important. Teams of 2 riders riding separately must visit two checkpoints before returning to the changeover area to pass over the map and control card to their team member. The fastest time to collect eight checkpoints will be the winner.
A 2hour MTBO: A fixed-course event of approximately 10 miles. Riders navigate their way from checkpoint to checkpoint in a fixed sequence making speed and navigation the highest priorities.
Camping, refreshments and evening entertainment will be available on the event site. Further details and entry forms may be obtained from www.trailblazers-cycling.org.uk or from: Mick & Jill Tucker, Trailblazers: Phone/Fax: 01827 55195, or Lisa Welbourn, Phone 01332 775243.
