Exciting news for anyone with a penchant for riding mountain bikes of the one-geared persuasion. Not only will the UK (and, more specifically, Scotland) be hosting the UCI “geared bike” World Championships, but we’ll also have the as-official-as-these-things-get Singe Speed World Championships on these shores. Or, more specifically, the shores of Scotland, again. More specifically than that, SSWC 2007 will take place around Aviemore, Scotland on 1/2 September. The race itself will be on the Sunday, but the organisers say, “Get there on the Saturday for registration and a wee dram.”
And that’s about all they say at the moment. We imagine that there’s more to come at some point – keep an eye on www.sswc2007.com for any further details that may be forthcoming.
Needless to say, there’ll also be a Single Speed UK Championships. And that won’t be in Scotland. Instead it’ll take place on 8-10 June at Ashton Court Estate, Bristol, in association with the Bristol Bike Fest. There’s a mailing list running for updates – sign up at the suitably minimalist www.ssuk07.com.
