According to Bikebiz, JCB sales of children’s bikes have gone through the roof since the Sun reported the news that the Beckhams bought their three-year old son, Brooklyn, a JCB Junior bike for Christmas.
It’s unlikely that any of the subsequent sales are quite like Brooklyn’s bike though, which was repainted in Man Utd
colours replete with stick-on name and number 7. The bike already features
genuine ball bearings as standard but also had a full “Thunderbirds” bell
upgrade from Beckham’s local bike shop, Middleton Cycles in Manchester. They say money can’t buy you happiness, but if we’d been bought a JCB Junior (paintjob notwithstanding) when we were three then we’d have strongly disagreed.
Novelty value aside, this present probably got more kids wanting bikes than
anything else this Christmas, and that’s got to be a good thing, though maybe not for their parents.
