The 2007 British Mountain Bike Series will consist of two races per event across five weekends. At each event there’ll be good old XC racing on the Saturday and marathon racing on the Sunday.
Freerange Sports Optics is the new title sponsor for the XC series, while Trek is on board for another year as title sponsor of the marathon series. Both benefit from the additional support of Science In Sport, Nike Cycling, Bontrager and XCracer.com.
Obviously the top racers will be out in force, with defending title holders Oli Beckingsale and Jenny Copnall facing plenty of competition. But it’s not all about the pros – there’ll be race categories for all ages from 7 upwards (with under-12 racing being free to enter) so there’ll be something suitable for everyone.
The Trek Marathon races will be run on extended versions of Saturday’s XC courses, with 25km, 50km or 100km distance options. There’ll be plenty of prizes from Trek, Bontrager and Nike.
Those dates in full:
- Round 1: Thetford, Norfolk 7/8 April (no showers)
- Round 2: Sherwood Pines, Nottingham 12/13 May
- Round 3: Margam Park, South Wales 2/3 June
- Round 4: Newnham Park, Plymouth 21/22 July
