The Brighton Big Dog is a new 6-hour enduro that takes to the singletrack trails of Stanmer Park, Brighton on 15 August.
The events conception was stirred by the feedback of the G2 Revolved ‘Long Good Saturday’ event that was held in this venue last year, but with it now making a reappearance on the 2009 calendar, local riders decided to organise their own event. The Brighton Big Dog was born.
As well as the usual racing the organisers have added a pre-’96 retro category to expect to see plenty of classic steeds being brought out into the sunshine, as one as a bike jumble where you might be able to pick up some classic parts for that retro build you’ve been dreaming about for ages.
The ‘Onederdog’ category is for anyone who doesn’t want to take up the full 6-hour challenge and instead encourages supporters, partners, family members or even passer bys to complete one lap for just £6. Free tea and cake is included.
And of course, the Big Dog ends not at the finish line but at closing time in the local pub with any profits from the day going behind the bar at the post race party venue to make sure that you are rehydrated.
The Brighton Big Dog event website has now been completed and is full of information about the event. A video previewing some of the course has now been uploaded which is worth a watch.
