BM Mountain Mayhem Works Team revealed

2007 will see the tenth year of pioneering 24 hour race Mountain Mayhem, and it’s going to be the biggest and best ever. Already big supporters of cycling, T-Mobile and Giant are backing this year’s event putting Mayhem properly in the big time.

Such is the popularity of the event and the demand for places that Mountain Mayhem traditionally fills up within hours of the entry forms being released. But we’ve got a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you to race at Mountain Mayhem in the style of a proper professional thanks the unique Bikemagic works team.

We posed a rather simple question: Why should you be a member of the BM works team? We can think of a few just of the tops of our heads, but sure enough, the entries came flooding in for why you wanted to ride for us. We had some rather ‘interesting’ responses, but in the end we plucked these readers to make up the team.

The final selection for BM Mountain Mayhem Works Team looks like this:

  • 1. Duncan Laurie-Pile (Will be filming the team for a video documentary in between riding)
  • 2. Toby Chisnall “I get to ride a decent bike rather than my 1912 Ladies Shopper”
  • 3. Mark Kehoe “I would have no excuse for riding badly with all this kit behind me!”
  • 4. Rachel Smith “I’m not afraid to try anything and I think I’m the best girl biker you will find!”
  • 5. Samantha Parker “I would make the rest of the team look good, and I could be the token girl (as I usually am in all the 24hr races I go in for).”

Congratulations! We’ll be in touch shortly to make arrangements. And Samantha won’t even be the token girl… These lucky readers will ride Marin bikes, wear Specialized helmets, use Michelin tyres, Hope lights and a stack of High5 nutrition products to get them through the event. And a top mechanic will be on hand to keep their bikes in tip-top condition. Obviously they will have to put up with an array of weak puns drifting across from the Bikemagic editorial team, but that’s a small price to pay. All they have to do is show up and pedal…
