The inaugural Singletrack Magazine Awards took place on Friday night, and BIKEmagic was there. Startlingly, we won something – our Call In Sick ads (devised by Pressure PR) won the Best Advert category. Just goes to show that you can’t go wrong with big pictures of countryside with bike in.
Something the editor wrote was nominated for Best Article in a UK Mag but he didn’t win, although in a shock result he did make it into the finals of the UK Bike Media Arm-Wrestling Challenge in the bar later. Being drawn against a left-handed cartoonist in the semis did help. Unfortunately Shred‘s Steve Toze proved too strong an opponent in the final. And yes, I am referring to myself in the third person. I’ll stop now.
Besides the awards, the main highlight of the evening was the charity auction. A bunch of desirable bike paraphernalia was auctioned, with the main attraction being a specially-commissioned Mint Sauce painting by Jo Burt. The auction raised an impressive total of £2734 for Cancer Research.
For more details of the awards, we’re sure that Singletrack will have a full report on their site soon…
