The Karrimor Enduro 6 is now the Karrimor/Specialized Enduro 6, as the Big S announces that they’ve joined Karrimor as title sponsors. As well as bringing a new name to the event, Specialized also bring a bag of money, bringing the prize fund up to an impressive £8,000.
Not familiar with the Enduro 6? It’s an endurance race, originally for solo riders (making it just like doing a 24 hour race as part of a team of four, sort of) but now open to pairs too. The course at Trentham Gardens is 7.5 miles long, biggest number of laps in six hours is the winner. Simple. And pretty hard.
It’s a good warm-up for the 24 hour races later in the year (the Enduro 6 is in May) or a great event in its own right. Your humble editor has done it twice, recording a mighty 44th in Fun in 2001. Maybe I’ll manage to beat the ten lap barrier next time…
Specialized are using the event to promote their ride-all-day suspension bikes like, well, the Enduro although possibly the new Epic would be a better bet for Trentham. We’ll have some more feedback on that soon.
