US-based Blue Competition Cycles made its first launch into the UK market at last week’s London Cycle Show, with a range covering road, time trial, cyclo-cross and mountain bikes.

You might not have heard of them (don’t worry, we hadn’t either) but they have been going for about five years and the Georgia company looks to have produced a range strong enough to standout and offer something a little different.

Highlight was the Ryno Carbon. A full suspension mountain bike featuring a Aerus Conquest high modulus T700 carbon fibre main frame seatstays and chainstays. The linkage activated Rock Shox Monarch 4.2 provides about 3in (76mm) of travel. There’s a choice two of builds with either a Rock Shox SID or Reba fork. Four sizes are available.

There’s also the XC2, a carbon hardtail frame weighing a claimed 1.25kg (2.75lbs) made from the same Aerus Conquest high modulus T700 carbon as the Ryno. Up front it adopts a tapered headtube, 1 1/8in at the top and 1 1/2in at the bottom for increased stiffness, and the frame is only disc brake compatible.

The company has been grabbing headlines for its offer of a free wind tunnel session with its top-end time trial bike. We’re not sure if the offer could be extended to a purchase of one of their mountain bikes, but we would sure be interested in the results…
