Bike Week 2009, taking place on 13-21 June, is set to be the UK’s biggest mass participation cycling event and is aiming to get even more families to swap four wheels for two.
The theme for this year is ‘Get more out of life: live local, get cycling’, and with that Bike Week has revamped its website to make it easy to find events run in your local area during the week, from commuter challenges to time trials to family rides and cycle skills training.
“Many families are looking for easy ways to get more out of life,” says Phillip Darnton, Chairman of Cycling England, “particularly during these difficult financial times. Cycling brings families together and is a fantastic, free way to discover new places and rides and have a lot of fun.
“We hope that by joining a Bike Week event, people will be inspired to hop on their bikes and discover the benefits and pleasures of cycling. Last year was a great success and I’m certain this year will be even better.”
Visit www.bikeweek.org.uk to find out more and to register. There’s lots of helpful information for those wanting to organise an event too.
