Taking place at the Avon Tyrell Activity Centre, New Forest, Hampshire, the Big Bike Bash is billed as a celebration of all things mountain biking and looks to include riders of all abilities and ages.
The principle aims are the sharing of knowledge and to encourage riders and non-riders alike to see how much fun you can have on a bike. There will be races but there will also be events for every level of rider from babies in tow-along trailers to advanced skills and stunts arenas.
There’ll be an impressive 20 different competitions taking place over the weekend, from XC racing to bunny hop challenges, with prizes for best effort as well as top finishers.
Run as a non-profit event, the Big Bike Bash will donate all profits to the charity UK Youth, which supports over 750,000 young people. And after feedback from no less a source than the BM forum, the organisers have fiddled with the pricing structure – new lower prices for juniors and the introduction of a spectator-only pass should make the event more accessible for family groups.
