Taking place at the Avon Tyrell Activity Centre, New Forest, Hampshire on 22/23 August, the Big Bike Bash is billed as a celebration of all things mountain biking and looks to include riders of all abilities and ages.

This is a new event aimed at both the keen mountain biker and the happy amateur with events for every level of rider. The trailer bike challenge for those too young to ride themselves, XC racing and a lake jump! These are just three of over 30 events happening over the weekend.

The idea, the organisers tell us, “is to move on from the one dimensional events where you turn up, race and go home. This is a whole weekend of fun on bikes with a beer festival and music festival too.”

There will be three arenas with events happening throughout the day. The more events you enter, the more points you get, and points make prizes – over £12,000 worth of prizes to be precise.

The trails are mainly through wooded singletrack with a few climbs to test your legs and a few fast descents to test your nerve. Tracks have been kept short at less than 5 miles so that you regularly appear in the main arena areas to be cheered on. This also means the fun category riders can enjoy a lap or two while the race whippets get to learn the track and where they can gain advantage.

The event is being held at Avon Tyrrell youth activity centre near Burley in the heart of the New Forest. There will be brick built toilets and showers as well as extra ones in the camp site.
