The Forestry Commission are offering a chance for cross-country stiff-backs to hang up their Lycra and bar ends and get a ride on a full-bore downhill bike at the international standard Innerleithen downhill course.
80 riders will get the opportunity to realise their foot-out fantasies aboard Kona Stinky Dee Lux downhill bikes, sheathed in armour and a full-face helmet. You needn’t even suffer for your pleasure, as lifts will be provided to the start, and a guide will show you the lines on the way back down.
“We often get cross-country riders coming in from Glentress to have a look at the trails at Innerleithen. Many say they’d love to have a go but don’t have the right gear. We are making it possible for this day only and everything is being laid on a plate. The emphasis is on having a fun day with no pressure, so that everyone can get a taster of what downhilling is all about”, explained Neil Stoddart, site manager at the Forestry Commission/Red Bull venue.
The day is scheduled to take place on the 24th of August, but with demand likely to be high, potential shred-heads should book in advance using the attached PDF form.
