If you’re aged between 10 and 14 and are looking to get into cycling, or if you’re already interested but want to improve, then the World Class Start Programme is here to help! Aston Hill Mountain Bike Area is currently the South’s only British Cycling Mountain Bike Cycling Academy, so if you’re based near London then you’re in an ideal position to take advantage of the opportunities on offer.
The initial stages of the programme involves testing riders to see if they have what it takes to secure a place. It’s a simple test for endurance and/or sprint ability, and although you have to be good to make the grade, it’s great fun trying. If you think you have what it takes then the first test is this afternoon (6th August at 3pm) at the Green Park Centre at the bottom of Aston Hill (just before/after the traffic lights by the canal bridge on Stable Bridge Rd, Aston Clinton. Go through the big gates and follow the signs for the camping field and you’ll find us there!). For those of you who can’t make the short notice, there will be more tests soon.
The first of the World Class Start training sessions is the following Tuesday evening (Tuesday 13th August starting at 6pm sharp) the good news is that this first session is free and there will be more so keep watching for updates. All you have to do is be in the car park on Aston Hill for a 6pm start and the session runs through to dusk.
