Holiday company CycleActive run holidays all over the place, both in the UK and abroad. Recently they’ve been broadening their horizons into skills weekends in the Lakes, combining weekend riding breaks with some riding tuition and advice.
Apparently they’ve been very successful, and so they’re extending the concept into the Alps. CycleActive’s first Alpine Skills week will be from 19-26 July. The idea is to get riders who may not have ridden in the Alps before and not just show them the trails but help them to ride them too.
Their guides and instructors are all fully-qualified, and riders’ skills will be developed in a combination of structured sessions and while out on big Alpine rides. As well as the actual riding bit, there’ll be advice on mountain navigation, route selection and map reading.
And it doesn’t end there. CycleActive’s qualified mechanics will be running maintenance and bike setup sessions in the evenings, to help you get your bike sorted for the Alps and keep it that way.
Sounds like a winning combination to us. The week will cost £410 – you need to pay for flights on top of that, but the price includes airport transfers, chalet accommodation, three course dinners on six nights, all breakfasts, coaching, guiding and skills advice.
