Looking for an epic bike adventure? Head for the Daily Telegraph Adventure Travel Show (London Olympia, 12-14 January 2007) and you should find something that fits the bill.
There’ll be over 250 exhibitors showing off their adventure travel wares, with many of them offering very cool bike trips. The organisers cite Red Spokes Adventure Tours as a typical exhibitor – the company “specialises in taking small groups of cyclists to some of the most remote and spectacular destinations the world has to offer,” it says here. Its tours range from cycling in the exotic Indian state of Kerala to negotiating the descent of El Misti volcano in Peru.
Or go for a high-altitude ride across the Himalaya – a 1,100km ride from Lhasa to Kathmandu via Everest base camp and including what’s billed as the world’s longest downhill, an impressive 160km of it…
As well as tour operators, you’ll find equipment manufacturers, speakers, explorers, photographers and film makers. The idea is that you’ll get inspiration and advice from people who’ve been places and done things, and then find the companies that can make it happen for you. Sounds good to us.
