Twelve hours is, perhaps, the new 24. Dusk til Dawn was the first UK 12 hour race, going for the approach of being the dark half of a 24 hour race. Also now well established are the daylight-hours Bristol Bike Fest Enduro and the bit-of-each 12 hour option at the Bontrager Twentyfour12.
Added to the list for 2007 will be Nightrider12, which brings the Dusk til Dawn 8pm-8am night enduro format to the ever-popular Newnham Park. The course will be 11km long, with the usual Newnham attractions of flowing singletrack, steady climbs and “the occasional” river crossing. And as a bit of a novelty some sections will be floodlit.
You’ll be able to enter as a team of four, a pair or solo. Torq, Certini and The Bike Cellar will be on hand supplying mechanical, nutritional and light charging facilities, while the main arena will have an all-night cafe, water and camping. Prizes and event support are provided by Gary Fisher, Torq Energy, Certini, The Bike Cellar and XCracer.com. All finishers will get a free bacon sarnie and a coffee once they’re done.
The date for your diary is 28 April 2007. Downloadable entry forms (or online entry) is available now at www.nightrider12.com, with further details appearing on the site in a few days.
