Forest of Dean hosted the 661 Mini Downhill at the weekend with very cold and frosty conditions for the competitors who braved the outdoors.
A full field of riders turned out with the youngest 10 year olds starting the racing off in the cold conditions with lots of cheers of encouragement from their parents and groups of spectators it made for a great start to the day.
By 3.30pm all the racing was over and all the great prizes were handed out on the podiums just has it started to go dark. 2010 National Champion Jess Stone (Trek Gravity Girls) won the women’s race with a time of 1.16 in her first ever mini downhill race, Ellie Maxfield (Wideopen Magazine) returning from a broken leg finished in second place six seconds off the pace while Lianne Bartleman was third.
Jess Stone tweeted following her race win: “1st place at the Mini DH Awesome day, had so much fun.”
