Senior race

Marcos Schier (Team Torq / Kona) was the first to lead and he had a good gap
over the rest until David Miller (API/Metrow) took over and pulled out a winning
lead, if some what tenuous.

Expert -Marcos Schier leads on lap one

Not far off the lead pair Mick Bell (Corridori) and Stuart McGhee (Evans RT)
were having a classic battle for third and Masters honours and this was only
settled when they sprinted for the line. With Bell just getting it.

Shawn Blakey (Ride Beyond), Rowen Smith and Sylvain Garde Addiscombe CC were
next up having gone wheel to wheel for much of the race and pushing the excellent
Paul Beales (Orange Monkey) down the order.

Women

Sarah Owan (Ride Beyond) was the clear winner of the women’s race. Second went
to Kate Collins who had held Owan for a short while and then spent the rest
of the race trying to stay ahead of Natalie Whyte.

Sarah Arnold (API) lost a place on the final laps to go fourth and Abigail
(Armstrong London Phoenix) fell back from third to claim fifth ahead of Anita
Longworth and Lucy Manser (Essex Roads).

Sadly Meg Backstedt pulled off after two laps.

Master men

It was as ever very close in Master men with Mick Bell (Corridori) out sprinting
Stuart McGhee (Evans RT) for the win. McGhee used a single speed bike just to
show off his good form!

The fight for third featured a train of riders and by race end Shawn Blakey
(Ride Beyond) just got the better of Sylvain Garde (Addiscombe CC), Mark Allen
(Orange Monkey), Sam Humpheson (London Dynamo/Cyclefit), James Price (Chelmer
CC) and Joel Kirkwood. Looking down the order there are plenty of other close
fights.

Bar) rode together until Troughton attacked and went clear to win.

Cyclo Cross ace Nathan Miller (Ipswich BC) took third being 30 seconds or so
down on Wilkinson’s wheel.

The race featured a good scrap for fourth. This saw Mark Shepherd just beat
Nick Stacey (Evans Cycles), James Farnaby (Cross Trax RT Leeds) and Darren Matthews
(Team Torq/Wheelies).
