Diary dates: All the upcoming events

With many bumper summer events closing fast, we thought we’d put together a little reminder about what’s on when:

Marin Dusk ‘til Dawn: 24/25th August
New for 2002, this nocturnal challenge is a sundown to sun-up singletrack ordeal, over an eight-mile Thetford loop. Sponsored by Marin and Lumicycle, the event is open to teams of two, four and soloists. The entry form can be downloaded here.

Kona 100 – The Sequel: 31st August – 1st September
The follow-up to the Kona 100. Offers both a 100km marathon, and a relatively sane 60km loop around Rhayader, Mid-Wales. Highfive are offering a bargain energy pack to riders, including bars, gels, drink sachets and a bottle for £9.99 (rrp £18), and Parrot are giving away a Parrot outfit (technical riding kit, not comedy bird suit) to one of the first 300 entries drawn on Saturday night. The entry form can be downloaded here.

World OrienBEERing Championships 31st August – 2nd September

Newnham 90: 7/8th Spetember
Fabled World Cup venue, Newnham Park, near Plymouth, is the venue for the second Newnham 90. Covering 90km of off-road trails, including some of the old race course, moorland bridleways, forest road, singletrack and the odd quarry, the event is unusual in that it is follows a non-competitive format. There will also be a 55km option and a short track cross-country event on the Saturday. Finally, Mick Ives will lead a ‘leisurely’ 17-mile ride across the moors on 7th September. For an entry form, click here.

Beast of the Brecons: 8th September
Click here for further info on this Welsh enduro around the Brecon Beacons.

Sleepless in the Saddle: 14/15th September
Just when you thought Jack Bauer was having a tough day, along comes 24 hours of team torture held at Trentham Gardens. The rules are simple: assemble a team of four (for single sex, five for mixed) and complete as many laps as possible over 24 hours. There are categories for solo, pairs and mixed as well. Loads of facilities and around 2000 entrants should give Sleepless that ‘Red Bull’ feeling. Download an entry form here.

Cheddar Challenge: 5/6th October
Click here for further details on the classic cheese-fest.
