Andalucía Bike Race 2011: Stage 5 report

Manuel Beltrán and José Luis Carrasco victorious in penultimate stage

Czechs from Ceska Sporitelna-Specialized, second today, consolidate their advantage with 11 minutes over their closest contenders and they got clear chances to become the final winners of Andalucía Bike Race´s first edition

The penultimate stage of the Andalucía Bike Race, the shortest of the competition, took its start from Jaén´s city centre, where dozens of fans and neighbours atended to encourage the bunch of cyclists.

Even though at the beginning of the stage the leaders pedalled in group, local team Sport Bike Jaén, with the exprofessional riders Manuel “Triki” Beltrán and José Luis Carrasco, arrived to slip the other´s coverage (in trails they know) and got the victory of the stage.

After them, crossing the finish line in a group, classified the Czechs from Ceska Sporitelna, Kristian Hynek and Pavel Boudny that, still leaders of general classification, expressed they see themselves with “clear options” to become winners of the first edition of the event, something they would “love” to achieve.

With that objective in mind, they pedaled “safely” because, with the advantage they accumulate (11 minutes), they didn´t need to “attack or risk either”.

Thirds were also Czechs Martin Horak and Tomas Vokrouhlik, fourth was Hispano-Luso with Díaz de la Peña and Leao Pinto; and fifth, Team T Bikes Apfoss Racing.

Danish Masters, winners of every single stage of the event in Master, were once again firsts in their category, and were also 15th in the general classification of the stage, ahead most of the elite men teams.

In Mixed, battle between Josh Ibbett and Cait Elliot for reaching their most direct contenders: Noergaard and Bigham, stays alive. Even though Topeak-Ergon Hansens Floedeis teams participate in other category, Elite Woman, the huge advantage they accumulate over the other mixed (more then four hours) made them set thir next challenge in enjoying the experience while trying to reach women´s leaders.

For the moment, today they finished approximately three minutes behind Topeak Ergon Hansens Floedeis, who were again the winner in their specialty, even though they are separated from almos tan hour in general classification.

Tomorrow´s stage, being the last one, will determinate all categories winner, and will be developped along incredible landmarks and with the spectacular Quiebrajano lake as main attraction. Both start and exit will be from Jaén´s city center.
