We saw the first 29er from UK brand Genesis Bikes at Eurobike last year but at the London Bike Show last week the official wraps were pulled of the finalised three bike range.
The video above features Genesis designer Don Thomas talking us through the new bike and its highlights (apologies for the sound quality…)
First 29er from Genesis is rigid only
The Fortitude, as it is called, is a rigid-specific 29er mountain bike built with a 69.5 degree head angle and short 445mm fork, keeping the front end real low. Three bikes will be offered, including a singlespeed, 1×10 and Alfine 11 – we’re leaning towards the 1×10 ourselves for the ideal second bike, winter bike or commuter.
The steel frames come fully equipped for any adventure you might have planned. Three bottle mounts – water bottles can even be mounted to the fork – along with rear rack mounts, mudguard eyelets and low rider mounts on the fork give the bike a real go-anywhere feel.
This is how Genesis sum up the Fortitude: “Ideal for a few days bike camping, or loading up for an Epic long distance Cross Border expedition. When it came to deciding how to gear this bike, it could only be Alfine 11 speed, it’s proven itself time after time, mile after mile and so it’s the perfect companion on epic back country adventures.”
Thee three bikes will be priced between £849.99 and £1499.99.
