Cannondale’s CAAD 5, Scalpel and Jekyll bikes are now well established but they’re still pursuing their usual tack of launching gear whenever they get it ready. Here’s the stuff that they’ve launched at the recent trade shows.
ThreadsGracia, Cippollini and Chausson have already startled spectators with their skinless ‘anatomical’ skinsuits, and now the fully contoured, technical fabric aero “Team Chrono” clobber is available for scaring the locals.
As well as the ‘skinless’ muscle suits, there are Saeco Cannondale, Black Lightning and Volvo Cannondale team strips as well as ‘special edition’ designs such as World Champion and Swiss National Championship graphics. Prices not available yet.
“Chrono” kit includes non logo versions of the above kit as well as more relaxed cut gear for men and women. For those who like their bike kit brief, the “Chrono Triathlete” line features “minimalist styling for full freedom of movement and maximum ventilation” so make sure you get your bikini line waxed as well as your legs. More flesh will be visible in the Chrono Sport line, with it’s “shorter short
inseams and exposed-midriff tops” which are designed for indoor spinning and ultra-hot weather – should go down a storm in the Peak District.
Most of us will probably head straight for the “Terra” range of loose jerseys and baggy shorts, and if they’re anything like as good as the 3 year old Stealth Bomber baggies we’re still wearing most days then they’re a superb investment.
Gloves, shoes, socks and casual wear also get revamped and we’ll be intrigued to see the “humping bunny” socks which should be a perfect match for the slip on cycling clogs – the mind boggles.
BikesThe all black road wheel equipped “Bad Boy” mountain bike has been a huge hit amongst urban warriors (and posers) and the range is extended with a polished silver Scalpel version (complete with Lefty ELO fork and Syntace multi adjust
handlebar, Magura Louise discs and 700c wheels).
The “Bad Boy Ultra” stays black on black with similar kit, while the base model “Bad Boy” gets a black or silver option. Pride of place goes to the “Good Boy”. A limited edition Jekyll supplied with Road and MTB wheels this rare breed pimpster is polished silver throughout with custom polished XTR and Disc brakes
from Shimano and a numbered production run. If you like rubbing your rag on a regular basis get your act together pronto.
