Ragley, launched a couple of years ago, quickly carved itself a reputation for turning out high quality hard riding hardtail frames, and now the company is turning its attention to full suspension, with the first photos of the Ragely FS being released this week.
The frame is still very much at the prototype stage, so don’t expect it to look exactly like it does in these photos, nor are details like the geometry finalised yet. Finished however is the really interesting aspect of the frame, the dual link suspension platform.
On the Shedfire blog, Ragley designer Brant Richards outlines how a dual link design was chosen over other suspension designs: “Dual link works really well for short and long travel bikes – it’s not just about axle path – it’s about use of materials and the way you can triangulate and stiffen across two sets of links to spread the loads in a different way.”
While the geometry for the bike hasn’t been decided on yet, we reckon we can expect a frame with similar riding characteristics to the hardtails, so expect a steep seat angle for better climbing, for example.
The bike is currently undergoing testing on Ragley’s local trails around Calderdale, during which final details will be sorted. Interestingly a 29er version of the bike, designed around a 140mm fork, is also in the pipeline. A price of £1200 for a frame (with a RockShox Monarch shock) has been announced.
We expect the Ragley FS to be officially launched in September at the Eurobike trade show.
