Ibis Mojo SL-R launched

Latest Mojo SL-R is revealed
DW-Link is used and delivers 140mm of travel

Everything is new.

That’s the bold claim from Ibis for the latest addition to its range, the all-new Mojo SL-R. While still bearing the name of the former model, much has changed.

Before this launch there was a significant rejig of the Mojo lineup: the Mojo gave way to the Mojo SL which thus led to the Mojo HD, and things learnt in developing this models has been funnelled into the new SL-R.

The first Mojo came along in 2005 and its distinctive shape has been lusted after by many mountain bikers. For this new model Ibis have brought it bang up to date and make use of many of the latest innovations currently been utilised by the top players in the market.

So while it still shares the same silhouette, and still offers 140mm of travel derived from the DW-Link suspension configuration, the SL-R is lighter and stiffer. Increased stiffness comes from the new tapered headtube, BB92 press-fit bottom bracket, and there’s modcons such as cable routing for dropper seatposts and postmount rear brake fittings. A RockShox Maxle rear axle stiffness up the swingarm significantly and the front mech now bolts to the seat tube. One nice touch that caught our eye is the rock guard fitted to the underside of the downtube.

Geometry doesn’t change from that found on the Mojo SL, but the new Cane Creek AngleSet fitted means the headangle can go down to a lazy (for this sort of bike) 67.5 degrees.

Lastly, we mentioned earlier the company’s claims of lighter weight. Ibis state a target weight, for the frame, of 2.25kg (5lbs) for a size large with a matte clear finish and Fox RP2 Kashima shock. The bike shown in this pictures is built with a full 2012 Shimano XTR groupset and the weight is reported to be a shade over 22lbs.

Impressive stuff. We can’t wait to take it for a spin.
