Mountain bike racers Jose Hermida (Spain-Multivan Merida) and Marco Aurelio Fontana (Italy-Cannondale Factory Racing) proved what they are made of by finishing well in the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championship event in St. Wendel, Germany last weekend.
Cyclo-cross is a branch of cycle-sport that is traditionally dominated by cyclists who specialise in the sport, their whole season is centred around the winter sport. Many road cyclists also use cyclo-cross as a way to keep fit, and to keep racing, through the colder months, but it’s also popular with mountain bikers.
Riding with SRAM RED Marco grabbed a great 7th place and Jose finished well in 20th position. Marco fought hard in the top 5 positions for most of the race, and was slowed down only by a flat tyre.
Winning the race however was cyclo-cross legend Zdenek Stybar, who won his second consecutive Cyclo-cross World Championship. All three riders were riding SRAM RED equipped bikes.
