Scott has a long history of carbon fibre innovation (its Addict road bike used by the HTC-Columbia pro team is one of the lightest in production) and this clearly shows in its latest frame, the new Scale 29er which weighs a reported 949g.
That’s impressive indeed. The sub-kilogram weight not only makes it lighter than many other hardtail frames, it’s also lighter than many top-end road frames too. Since we weren’t invited to the press launch to see the new bike in person, we’ll have to wait until the Eurobike trade show next week to bring you all the details.
We can report, however, that the new big-wheeled Scale has been a hit with Scott’s supported athletes. Florian Vogel brought his home in first place at the recent Racer Bikes Cup race in Switzerland, part of the Swiss national series. It shows good form for the Scott Swisspower rider ahead of the final World Cup in Windham, New York this weekend.
