Cove importers Silverfish have released a limited-edition bike built up around a customised Stiffee frame. Called the Stiffee 69er, there’ll be a limited edition run of just 69 bikes, each one signed by the builder and individually numbered. The rather cool blue paintjob will only be found on 69ers. This example was on display at the recent Cycle and Leisure Show and very lovely it is too…
So what do you get? The Stiffee frame is Easton RAD tubing, disc only and a legendarily good handler. Fox Forx are the natural choice, and you’ll get TALAS RLC adjustable travel ones here. Silverfish also import Race Face bits, so anything that can be RF is – Deus stem, Prodigy low riser bar, Thermo SP headset, Turbine cranks, XY seatpost (topped with a custom SDG Bel Air saddle), Good’n’Evil grips…
The wheels use ultra-reliable XT hubs laced to Mavic F219 rims with DT Competition spokes. They’re shod with Tioga Factory DH 2.1 tyres. Shifters and mechs are Shimano XT.
The finishing touch is a set of Hope Mini disc brakes complete with custom-engraved Stiffee 69er rotors. The whole package looks fantastic, and while the £1,895 asking price is clearly a whole hill of money, it’s actually pretty good value even without considering the whole exclusivity thing… The 69er is available from all Cove dealers – you can find your nearest one by visiting the Silverfish website.
