RAW Bamboo Bikes will be launching their first UK-built bike at this week’s Cycle Show at the NEC in Birmingham.
Two of the bikes were ridden in this year’s eight-stage grueling Transalps race, covering 385 miles through Germany, Austria and Italy, and the bamboo frame will now be offered for sale through retailers. You can try it for yourself on the Cycle Show’s indoor demo track.
The frame, designed and engineered by Oxford Brookes University, will be manufactured by RAW at their base in Yorkshire.
The bike frame is constructed using bamboo tubes and advanced jointing technology using hemp fibre, which has strength and flexibility to compliment the stiffness and durability of bamboo.
RAW will be on stand M13 for the duration of the show, talking about the bike, as well as taking orders for their initial stock. There will be a show offer of 10 per cent discount for all orders received during the show.
