We’ve already shown you Gary Fisher highlights – such as the 29’er and Sugar + adjutable travel bike – from our trip to the Trek Press Camp in Germany this summer and the Red Bull 24hr, but here’s some details of the rest of the range.
The revised Sugar 1 uses the same beefed up bi-axial ‘ZR9000’ downtube as the Sugar + bikes as well as larger diameter unbridged ‘seatstays’. A new larger
lattice link and increased diameter carbon stays provide compensatory stiffness, cutting out the speed wobble and mud clogging of the original Sugar while still dropping some weight.
The bike also gets Cane Creek’s new Cloud Nine shock which includes a push button ‘over pressure’ compression lock out system for the smooth bits. Manitou’s new beefier Mars fork, XTR transmission, Time ATAC pedals, Bontrager wheels and finishing kit complete the £2700 race ready
package.
We’ve already talked about the Sugar 2+ Disc, but here’s the finalised spec. and price info. Transmission is an XTR / XT / Bontrager mix with Time ATAC pedals. Hayes discs provide the anchorage while IRC’s big BackCountry 2.25″ tyres are excellent all rounders with impressive float and traction, that we really appreciated on test rides. Cane Creek rear shock on adjustable position
‘Sybil’ linkage gives 2.8″ – 4″ of travel and the Rock Shox Psylo SL matches with 80 – 125mm ‘U-turn’ adjustment up front. Bontrager provide cockpit seating and wheel kit all coming in at £2000.
We’re not sure what we’ve done with the picture of the stunning looking Big Sur hardtail with it’s XT / LX transmission and Manitou Black Elite fork but the Fisher website has some shots and we’re very eager to get our hands on the complete bike ourselves, which looks hard to beat for performance and appearance at £899 (or £1099 with Hayes discs).
Further down the line the Marlin Disc is another bike that won’t be waiting long in the shops. Butted aluminium frame with fast handling Genesis geometry, Rock Shox Judy fork, Magura hydraulic discs and ever dependable Deore gear. It’s all set for the singletrack at £549.99.
Bikes should be in the shops as of now, so get yourself down your local dealer or log onto www.fisherbikes.com but expect a Sugar 3+ Disc review on site very soon.
