Forks (Suspension)

Upgrade your Rock Shox knob

Upset that your 2001 Psylo’s don’t have the fork top U-turn travel adjuster of the 2002 models? Well, fret no more! You can now buy the whole spring stack and adjuster to plug in your forks.

The upgrade kit works on both the SL and XC coil spring versions of the fork that currently need a very long screwdriver to do the business. The kit won’t work on the air sprung Race fork.

The 2002 kit uses a boiled sweet style semi transparent plastic knob to let you wind potential travel from 80 – 125mm for ‘different trail conditions’. The stack also cunningly adjusts its spring rate to match the increased or decreased travel.

As the kit also includes the full coil spring stack it’s an ideal chance to change your existing spring rate (Psylo’s are factory fitted with ‘medium’ springs as the stock option) at the same time. The $99 prices we’ve seen in the US will probably translate to around £99 over here, but we can’t get hold of anyone from Madison to confirm that.

The one burning question we’d like to ask people who’ve got forks like Psylos or Blacks with external travel adjustment, is how often do you actually use the feature? We know some riders who can’t leave it alone, and we’ve played with it occasionally on test bikes (more because we thought we should than any real need) but what do you reckon?
