Founded in 2008 by two mountain bikers with a focus on freeride and downhill products, Sixpack have just released an expanded range of flat pedals for 2011.
The pedal body is made from magnesium to keep the weight down to 335g a pair and is finished with a clear coat so the raw mag finish is visible. 28 light alloy pins help keep the weight down too and provide plenty of grip.
Bearings around the chromoly axle are sealed, and there’s a choice of black, red, gold, green, blue or purple pin colours.
Cutting the weight right down to an impressive 275g a pair is the new Icon MG Ti, which boasts a lighter titanium axle inside the same low-profile magnesium pedal body. Choose from several colours including the new racing yellow edition with black alloy pins.
If cost is a concern then take a look at the Icon AL. Based on the same design as the two pedals above but using a 6061 aluminium body to reduce the cost, though weight does rise to 435g a pair. It’s only available in ‘liquid green’ and eight other colour options.
