Marzocchi have today announced that it will offer two 29er forks in 2011.
Those with long memories will remember that Marzocchi first developed a 29er fork for Gary Fisher back in 2002, but the company has decided to get back into the market with a new version of its 44 fork.
An all-new casting to make it suitable for the larger wheels has been developed, and it shares the technology from the standard 44 fork in all other areas, with two models available.
The £599.95 Forty Four Micro TI uses Marzocchi’s top of the line closed cartridge, the TST Micro damper features adjustable rebound, lock out and lock out threshold. Completely reengineered for 2011, the new low pressure ‘AER’ air system offers coil-alike plushness with its Titanium negative spring. Developed from the 888, the VA adjuster (variable air) lets you simply dial in your desired compression curve on the trail.
Fork travel is 120mm out of the box but can be adjusted to 100mm or 140mm by simply adding or removing spacers, making the 44 series the only 140mm travel 29″ forks on the market.
Then there’s the cheaper Forty Four TST2. The 44 TST2 uses many of the same features to the Micro Ti, but with simpler adjustments. The new TST2 damper takes care of rebound and lock out duties while the single valve, open bath – low pressure air spring with negative spring keeps the fork supple and easy to set up. Again, fork travel is 120mm out of the box but can be adjusted to 100mm or 140mm by simply adding or removing spacers.
Available in October, the fork will retail for £339.95.
