An incredibly bright and well-made bike light with several innovative features that set it apart from the competition.
What they say: The Lezyne Deca Drive light is designed with a sleek CNC-sculpted aluminium body with three LEDs that offer a steady and bright 900lm.
What it is: First impressions of the Lezyne Deca Drive light are that its pretty bulky, quite heavy and probably not a product suited to everyone’s riding style. However, looks can be deceiving. As we discovered, the level of performance that the light delivers, combined with its smart features, make it a ‘must-have’ for anyone who does any serious night riding.
Three good-sized LEDs provide a hugely impressive 900lm beam on the highest setting (overdrive), which, not only lights the way impeccably, but also gets you noticed and respected by motorists, pedestrians and fellow cyclists. There are five other settings ranging down to a 150lm flashing setting – each obviously has a differing strain on the battery, but on the brightest setting you will still get a good hour and a half.
The battery itself is rechargable via a wall adaptor, or the incredibly handy micro USB, which makes it perfect for commuters.
The unit also features an Intelligent Power Indicator button, so you can easily see how much juice you have left and avoid getting literally caught in the dark.
As mentioned, the only thing which may put some off (particularly hardened roadies) is the weight. That said, its other benefits far outweigh that and MTB riders or commuters will lap this product up.
Who it’s good for: Anyone who rides after dark should consider the Deca Drive. It’s a little on the heavy side and not the cheapest but you won’t find a safer alternative out there. A premium product.
