Torq first launched its energy gels in 2007 and since then has gradually been adding new flavours to the range. The latest is Rhubarb and Custard, which the company revealed at the Cycle Show earlier this year, taking the choice of flavours up to six.
The company has never stuck to the traditional flavour choices however, with names like Black Cherry Yoghurt, Forest Fruits and Banoffee giving an idea of the different direction the brand is taking. So we aren’t at all surprised that the newest flavour is another potentially divisive choice.
Like the existing gels, Rhubarb and Custard made from a 2:1 Maltodextrin/Fructose mix, which independent research claims is a combination that can deliver significantly more carbohydrate to the working muscles.
Each 45g gel costs £1.35 each and boxes of 20 gels are available from the Torq website www.torqfitness.co.uk
How does it taste? We’ll find out soon, as a sample of the new gel just landed on the BM desk.
