Filming trails, jumps and other stuff while out riding has become increasingly popular over the past few years, especially with video sharing sites like Mpora making it a doddle to share your footage with friends.
There’s been a lot of development in the camera technology too, with the video camers generally getting smaller and lighter. The latest is this Drift HD170 Stealth from Action Cameras, which we’ve just received for testing.
Drift use a rugged all-in-one water resistant design for their camera, with a lens that twists allowing a multitude of mounting options; on the helmet, the handlebars or anywhere else your creative urges demand. A built-in colour LCD monitor lets you see an image of what the lens is actually seeing before you blast down the trail, and for playing back recently shot footage.
What’s new about the Stealth model, beside the all black finish, is a slow motion mode. A 60 frames per second setting opening up new filming possibilities, or to recreate some of the stuff seen in films like the Collective. The camera provides full high-def 1080p recording, or if you’re pushed for storage on the SD card there’s also a 720p and WVGA setting. Beside video, it’ll also take 5 megapixel photographs too.
To make it easier to use out on the trail a remote control is included, especially handy if you’ve got the camera mounted on your lid.
We’ll be testing the Stealth over the coming months and we’ll be sharing our recordings with you.
