Portable pressure washers have become increasingly popular with mountain bikers in the past couple of years, mainly as the price has come down and the performance has risen to the point where they’re now really very good. We’ve been using Mobi’s new V-17 for a while, here’s our first impressions of it.
Inside the blue plastic unit is capacity for 17-litres of water which is dispensed by the adjustable spray nozzle. Powered by an internal battery or from the cars auxiliary power supply, there’s ample pressure for removing stubborn and clogged mud from the bike.
We found it more than capable of thoroughly cleaning two bikes, with water left over for cleaning shoes and washing down some of your caked in mud kit. Importantly, the Mobi is powerful enough to remove mud but isn’t going to blast the bearings and other sensitive parts of a mountain bike to smithereens.
Yes the price is quite steep and some may see such an item as a luxury. But if you live in a block of flats where it’s not so feasible to clean your muddy bike, or if you’d like to clean your bike straight after a ride and before the bike gets packed away in the car, then it quickly looks like a smart investment.
