These here shoes are from NKE6.0, Nike’s action sports-specific brand intended to cover the usual “extreme” gamut from surfing to MTB by way of skating, snowboarding and BMX. Obviously these particular ones – the Mobi-One (top) and Mobisu (bottom) are firmly in the skate/bike arena, with a sole pattern designed to grip boards or flat pedals.
Both shoes feature Zoom Air low-profile shock absorbing soles to take the sting out of those heavy landings without having to wear a shoe with soles a foot thick. The Mobi-One is the slightly posher of the two shoes, with a seamless, bonded upper, internal lacing system, flex grooves and a range of colours including “digi-camo” patterned uppers and, for some reason, plaid bits around the ankle. Welcome to the wonderful world of fashion… The Mobisu is a slightly smoothed-out version of the Mobi-One, with a perforated suede uppper and separate toe cap. And no plaid.
To go along with the NKE6.0 footwear and clothing range there’ll be a UK action sports team, who’ll be doing hazardous things at UK events and heading off on trips to try out each other’s sports. The team will also have its own filmmaker/photographer, which looks like being a good opportunity for any aspiring talents in that field – get the gig and you’ll find yourself working alongside a range of industry professionals and all the camera gear you can eat…
