Mud and Sweat are holding the next round in the ‘Sweat’ series of their innovative mountain bike adventure series when it heads to Brimpt’s Farm near Dartmeet, Dartmoor on Sunday 15 May.
The event combines off-road mountain biking with the skill of navigating and is open to everyone from beginners and families to experienced adventure racers.
There are three types of event being run on the day – the Navigation (orienteering) class which combines off-road mountain biking with the skill of navigating and is open to everyone from beginners and families to experienced adventure racers.
For this event, there will be an exciting new twist to this class, with even more strategy required by the competitors. Riders will aim to get the highest score possible by visiting as many of the checkpoints marked on their map as they can in the time allowed. This allows everyone to choose their own route and set a personal challenge rather than chasing other competitors around a set course.
They will also be running a ‘Time Trail’ class, where competitors will ride a number of laps around a set course (no navigation required), in the fastest time possible. Alongside this event, there will also be a ‘Time Trail Duathlon’ class, where competitors will both ride and run a number of laps around a set course (no navigation required), in the fastest time possible. Both of these classes will be run a bit like a car rally, in that each person will be timed, and can carry out their timed laps at any point during the day.
Individuals, pairs and families can enter on the day from 10am, all that’s needed is a sense of fun and adventure, a working bike, a helmet, a compass (if entering the Navigation class), trainers (if entering the Duathlon) and money for entry fees and some well earned refreshments.
