Giant Mountain Mayhem is Europe’s largest and most exciting 24 hour endurance mountain bike race, taking place at Eastnor Castle, Ledbury, Herefordshire on 20-22 June 2008.
Established in 1998, this year’s event promises to be the largest to date with in excess of 2,500 competition riders, 450 teams, 150 soloists and a staggering 12,000 spectators expected to attend.
Entry forms
Available from midnight on 29 February. Download, print, fill in your details, write cheque, stick everything in an envelope and rush to the nearest post box. Alternatively, event organiser Patrick Adams will be waiting up through the night for hand delivered entry forms – freshly brewed coffee will be ready and waiting.
Downloaders will note that Bikemagic is sponsoring the Mixed category (largely because that’s the one that we tend to be in ourselves). We’ll be doing all sorts of fun stuff at the event, the exact details of which will be revealed as soon as we’ve decided what they are. But expect at the very least somewhere to come and hang out, get a mug of tea, some moral support and free stuff…
Visit www.mayhemworld.co.uk to get your entry form.
Mayhem World
Mountain Mayhem has been hugely successful since it first encouraged riders to ride their bikes for 24 hours. This success has prompted the organisers to turn the event into a brand, with the launch of Mayhem World.
What does that mean? Several things, and the newly launched website, www.mayhemworld.co.uk, will offer registered users competitions, Mayhem course details, regular newsletters, behind the scenes, top tips, Mayhem history and more. And by registering and becoming a member of the Mayhem World Club, you’ll be able to enjoy some exclusive discounts from Mayhem partners and entry into monthly competitions.
Other news
The Giant Dirt Demo is once again taking place, allowing you the chance to test ride the newest bikes from the major bike brands. It runs from Friday through to Sunday.
A first for 2008 is the inaugural Mayhem Sportive, a 100km route around the surrounding countryside. Mini Mayhem will be hosted by the British Cycling’s Go Ride.
In addition, 2008 has plenty of other activities to keep you entertainined including ‘Drag Racing’ on the Friday night thanks to Rock Shox and there will be a suitably tasteless trophy for the winner. For the kids, there’s a free climbing wall, paint-balling and much more.
