Fulcrum 29er wheel range unveiled for 2013, plus new gear from Birzman, Gemini Lights, Catlike and Northwave
We’ve been to visit i-ride to see what’s new from the UK distributor. Their brands include Italian wheel firm Fulcrum, who have a three-strong range of 29er wheels for 2013.
We photographed the hoops and came back with these shots, as well as pictures of new gear from Birzman, Gemini Lights, Catlike and Northwave, while we expect to see a mountain bike pedal from Speedplay at the Eurobike trade show later this month.

The Red Power 29 SL, Red Power 29 XL and Red Metal 29 XL make up the Fulcrum 29er range for 2013
The Red Power 29 SL is described as a wheelset for riders who are dipping their toe into the world of oversized hoops, with an affordable £199.99 price tag to match
Step up a level and you have the Red Power 29 XL, which tops the Red Power range thanks to the new milled rim, straight-head spokes and oversize hub. A QR/15mm thru-axle adapter kit for the front wheel allows you to use the same wheel with both standard front forks and with 15mm thru-axle. Retail price is £259.99
The Red Metal XL tubeless-ready wheelset is described as a hoop which is both trail-sturdy and race-ready
Tool and pump brand Birzman are a new addition to the i-ride stable and their 2013 collection includes an all-new range of Zacoo Maha track pumps
The Zacoo Maha pumps use a new snap-on valve which uses a sliding collar to attach the pump to the tube valve, designed to stay engaged under high pressure, while there’s also pressure release control
Gemini Lights are relatively new to the UK but we’ve been impressed with the build quality, output and affordability so far. The Xera Flashlight is a new addition to the range and pumps out 800 Lumens, with a run time of 1.5 hours on the maximum setting. Retail price is an impressive £105.99
Another new addition to the i-ride portfolio, Catlike have three new helmets for 2013. Pictured above are the MTB-specific Leaf (£69.99) and Vacuum (£79.99), and the top-end roadie Whisper Deluxe (£109.99) helmet. We like the versatility and styling of the Vacuum (middle of shot), which looks ideal for those of us partial to riding both on and off-road
